Joint Efforts to Include Educational Events, Programs, and Community Outreach Initiatives to Enhance Educational Access
The Education Hub (“The Hub”) in Panyu, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Guangzhou (“HKUST (GZ)”) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide greater access to advanced STEM experiences to primary and secondary school students and collaborate on various educational initiatives to support youth talent development in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), especially the next generation of scientists and innovators.
The GBA is a global hotspot for technological innovation and a bridgehead for China's technological innovation. Through this collaboration, not only can we provide more opportunities for young people to experience innovative technologies firsthand, but it is also a powerful support for cultivating the country's future technological talents and scientists. The comprehensive educational collaboration model between the Hub and the HKUST (GZ) also facilitates the integration and sharing of cross-border science and technology education resources and builds a broader platform for collaborative exchange to support the country's technological development and future talent reserve.
To support fostering academic exchange within the GBA, the collaboration between The Hub and HKUST (GZ) aims to inspire and provide greater opportunities for primary and secondary school students to learn more about the latest technology and innovation development and academic research.
Both parties will organise summer experiential camps, technology exchange events, and other educational activities for primary and secondary schools in the GBA. These activities aim to integrate relevant resources from various associations and industries in the GBA to provide young people with more opportunities to engage with the field of science and innovation, such as university careers in STEM, visits to universities or laboratories, and exploring the path of scientific research. In addition, HKUST (GZ) will also arrange for outstanding professors and researchers to give special talks for the primary and secondary students, allowing them to learn from the experts’ experiences and insights.

Professor Lionel M. Ni, President of HKUST (GZ), said that The Hub innovatively brings the Kindervarsity concept into K-12 education, proffering diverse curriculums for students of different backgrounds and interests. Such education mode is aligned with HKUST (GZ)'s student-centered learning approach and the cultivation of individual excellence. With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies, both basic education and higher education are facing unprecedented challenges. “HKUST (GZ) is pleased to join hands with The Hub. Both sides will strive to provide primary and secondary school students with more opportunities to access the latest developments of science and technology and in-depth academic research. We hope to help nurture the future scientists and innovators for the GBA and the whole country.” said Professor Ni.
